Walmsley Warehouse

Currently under construction, Walmsley Warehouse is situated in the industrial area of Otahuhu, Auckland, across the road from the train station. Standing proudly on a busy, high-traffic road with pedestrians also walking to the train station on the opposite side, the desire was to create a building that was both practical as a warehouse, and importantly, beautiful. The client also wanted a building to last - both in its architectural form and its chosen material. Thus concrete was used for its ‘solid’ permanence and low-maintenance durability. Staggered in varying widths of light and dark with (light & reflective) glass interspersed offers a play between dark and light, solid and transparent.
